Deckote was developed in 1975 as a heavy duty, semi industrial coating system for horizontal surfaces. This water based, 100% acrylic elastomeric coating, has been successfully used on millions of square feet of sundecks, porches, patios, roof decks, stairs, landings, boat decks, tennis courts, railings, basement floors, work areas, walkways and many other surfaces.
There are many cases in which Deckote has lasted for more than 10 years under all sorts of weather conditions. This has been possible due to the very high solids in Deckote. Solids include the acrylic resin and select pigments that are left behind after the paint has dried. The other portion that evaporates as the paint dries is called volatiles. They serve to assist in the application of the paint but do not contribute to the final film. This high solids and subsequent high film build is the reason Deckote achieves it’s legendary wear and weather resistance. This tough film also has the ability to allow water vapor to vent through the film while at the same time provides a water resistant protective coating. This “breathing effect” helps prevent blistering and increases adhesion.
